Questions

Are these packs free?

Yes. Every pack is free to read and hear, and the lists are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0, so you can reuse them if you credit them and share alike.

Do I need an account to use these packs?

No. You can read every word or phrase, hear it and play its moments without signing in. A free account is only for starting a pack: Talk then adds 5, 10 or 20 of its words and phrases a day to your review and keeps your progress.

Where do the work phrases come from?

Talk picked them for the meetings of a working week; each pack's page says how.

Is there a pack for my role?

The work packs are the same for every role, because the meetings are. Pick a role on the week and its meetings take that role's names, such as a code review for a software engineer or a design crit for a designer. The phrases stay the same.

Where do the words come from?

6 of the 9 word packs adapt published word lists from the NGSL Project, each credited on its own page. Talk picked the other 3 (Science & tech, Travel phrases, British sounds) from the words its videos say.

What is a moment?

A moment is one caption line from a real video in which the word or phrase is said. Tap one to play it: the video plays just that line and stops.
